The big match on the return from the international break was the city derby between Atlético and Real Madrid, Zidane’s side running out 0-3 winners to move four points clear at the top of the table. Cristiano Ronaldo scored all three goals in very different ways, a deflected free kick, a penalty and a tap in from Bale’s cross, and he celebrated with three very different poses for the cameras! No shrinking violet this boy! Second placed Barcelona though were missing the suspended Luis Suárez, as well as Messi, who pulled out at the last minute with a stomach upset, and they were held to a 0-0 draw by Málaga. It was a relatively low scoring weekend all round in fact, and although Gerard Moreno (Espanyol) and Duje Cop (Sporting) both enter our rankings after netting their fifth of the season, not one of the remaining “Pichichis” added to their tally.
