Barcelona made it through to the Spanish cup final for the fourth year in a row after a thrilling 1-1 draw in the Nou Camp. Luis Suárez built on the 2-1 first leg lead, but Gameiro levelled it near the end shortly after missing a penalty. Barça’s opponents in the final will be little fancied Alavés, Edgar scoring the only goal against Celta to take them through to their first ever domestic final!

As fate would have it, Alavés and Barcelona met in the league on Saturday evening in a rehearsal of that final. The locals rested several players though after their epic midweek win, and the Catalans ran out 0-6 victors, with Suárez scoring two and Neymar and Messi also on the scoresheet. Curiously the two losing finalists also played each other on Sunday, Atlético coming from behind late on to win 3-2, with goals from Fernando Torres (who also missed a penalty!), Carrasco and Griezmann.

Real Madrid stay at the top however despite having two games in hand, Ronaldo starting things off in 1-3 victory at bottom club Osasuna. Sevilla stay third after a 0-1 win at Las Palmas, Joaquín Correa getting the only goal there, and Athletic Bilbao closed in on the European spots after beating Deportivo 2-1, Aduríz celebrating his 36 th birthday setting up the equalizer for Muniain and then getting the winner himself near the end. However Eibar moved above their Basque neighbours on goal difference after a 4-0 victory against Granada on Monday, Sergi Enrich and Pedro León amongst the scorers as they clocked up their second four goal win in a row!
