Sevilla's Javi Navarro hasn't started well at his new
club. He broke his arm in the controversial pre-season game at Farense, and
having finally recovered and got into the side he is now in trouble with the
disciplinary committee. As reported last week Navarro was caught on tape
punching Espanyol's Rotchen, and although referee Muñiz Fernández
and his team didn't pick it up and Espanyol didn't report it, he was given a
four match ban on video evidence. The committee also downgraded Pablo's red
card to a yellow, and after referee Téllez Sánchez finally got
his report right at the second attempt, suspended Sarasua for two games.
Four more red cards this
week as tempers frayed in the bad weather. Juanele was unlucky to get a red
card as he wrenched the ball out of Armentano's hand to take a free kick,
appearing to push the ball back at the Osasuna striker as he resisted.
Armentano went down like a ton of bricks, even though he hardly touched him,
and hopefully the Zaragoza veteran will win an appeal. A direct red too for
Rayo Vallecano's French midfielder Eric Roy, but this one was more clear cut.
Roy jumped into Casquero from behind, and may get a longer ban. Málaga's
Romero picked up his fourth yellow in four matches, and two players were sent
for an early bath after earning themselves a second caution for arguing,
Iván Alonso from Alavés and Zárate from Málaga. The
problem with being South American is that everyone in Spain understands what
they say. Stoichkov used to swear in Bulgarian and get away with murder.
