Villains

Another two red cards this weekend, going to Celta's Luccin and Barcelona's Cocu, both for picking up two bookings in their respective games. Luccin took an early bath for the second time this season, and although proving to be a useful signing, his disciplinary record needs a bit of attention. He is currently lying second in our table.

Barcelona's match against Osasuna was a disaster for the Catalan club, and the game ended in an uproar as fans invaded the directors' box and broke television cameras, actions which could cost them a heavy fine. Cocu was already in a bad mood after the hotel party scandal from the week before (the club is threatening to take legal action against the media for defamation of character of the five men involved, but have done nothing so far), and the crowd's animosity towards the Blaugrana players was probably at the root of his aggression on the pitch. His ironic gesture of applause when he left could also get him into further trouble.

Incidentally Kluivert missed that game as he was given a one match ban by the disciplinary committee for insulting the referee after Barça's game with Rayo the weekend before. The committee also let Mostovoi off his fifth yellow card which meant he played this weekend. This week's committee will have less work to do, with only three players reaching the five card threshold, Makelele (Real Madrid), Michel (Rayo) and Fernando (Osasuna). (28.01.02)
