Three more red cards this
week, two of them in the game between Barcelona and Las Palmas. Kluivert was
the first to go a few minutes from the end after he picked up a second yellow
card for a rather silly tackle, probably out of frustration as his side were
unable to get the winning goal. Then a couple of minutes later Spanish under-21
international Angel followed him after he got a second booking for a late
tackle on Saviola. The young full back is the first to get three red cards this
season. The other red came in the game between Tenerife and Valencia, where the
home side defender Lussenhoff got his marching orders for a flying elbow in
injury time. He had already picked up one yellow, but it was not clear if he
was sent off for a second booking or a direct red card.
Tenerife are likely to be
missing up to four players through suspension for their next game, with Hugo
Morales, Marioni and some reports say Manel all picking up their fifth caution
of the season. Fuertes is injured as well, so Clemente will have to put out a
new forward line for their visit to Málaga. Three other players have
also hit the five yellow card mark, Naybet (Deportivo), Del Horno (Bilbao) and
Rivas (Betis), and no less than five have completed the second cycle of ten
cards, including the top villain from the last two years Téllez
(Alavés), plus Ricardo and De Lucas (Espanyol), Corino (Rayo) and Marcos
(Valladolid). (01.04.02) |
