Villains

Plenty of cards this week, although with the exception of Unai there were none for our top villains. There were three reds in all, two of which came in the same match between Atlético Madrid and Recreativo Huelva. The home team's Otero was the first to go after a scything tackle on Bermejo, and Recre's Galán followed him after the break for pulling down Fernando Torres in the penalty area. José Marí was lucky to get let off with a yellow card for a tackle similar to Otero's on Atlético's Sergi.

The other player to see red was Real Madrid's Michel Salgado, his first sending off in three years. He was unlucky though, picking up a very rigid yellow card for protesting a possible penalty on Guti and then getting another booking a couple of minutes later for a strong tackle. Madrid will appeal. (01.10.02)
