The villains kept their
heads down this weekend, with only one player getting his marching orders in
the ten first division games. The black sheep was Rayo's Graff, a man who
featured quite a bit on these pages last season as well. The Argentine left
back was given a first yellow card for handling outside of the area (leading up
to Atlético's first goal), and was booked again on the half hour mark
for a hard tackle on Correa, leaving his side with ten men for the last hour of
the game.
Other than that there were
51 yellow cards, slightly below the weekly average, with Osasuna's Pablo
García becoming the third player (after César and Roteta last
week) to reach the five card suspension threshold. As expected, the
disciplinary committee suspended all three Betis players who were sent off last
week, although Filipescu was lucky to get off with a two match ban given that
the referee had reported him for punching the linesman (albeit lightly) on the
arm as he left the field. (05.11.02) |
