Villains

Villarreal were in the wars this weekend, with both of their international full backs getting their marching orders in the game against Recreativo before half time. Arruabarrena was shown a red card for bringing down Javi García in the penalty area on the half hour mark, and Belletti followed him for a foul on Raúl Molina ten minutes later. After that Benito Floro's side went on to lose 5-0, leaving them struggling down in the bottom half of the table. The only other sending off this weekend was of Osasuna's Cruchaga in the match at Atlético Madrid, but that didn't prevent them from spoiling the centenary celebrations with a surprise victory. Four players clocked up their tenth bookings of the season at the weekend, including Sergi (Atlético), Lopo (Espanyol), Graff (Rayo) and Torres Gómez (Valladolid). They will be suspended for the next game, as will Del Horno (Athletic), Alfonso (Betis), Roger (Espanyol), Neru and Regueiro (Racing), Karpin (Real Sociedad) and Aimar (Valencia), all of whom received their fifth yellow cards.
