Villains

After two matches of light exercise, our villains are really getting into the swing of things. There were no less than six red cards on day three, not the highest of all time but a good average. The law-breakers this week included the top villain from two seasons ago, Quique Alvarez, who picked up two bookings in the match at Espanyol and appears to be in top form. The other names in the referees' black books though were less known, at least for villainy, with Héctor and Leo Franco both getting sent off for fouls and Peña and his team's physical trainer Miguel Peiro for insulting officials. Undoubtedly the star of the weekend though was Osasuna's new signing Julio César Pinheiro. The Brazilian midfielder made his league debut midway through the second half of the game against Atlético, and within 25 minutes was on his way off again after picking up two yellow cards. Could be an outside bet for this season's prize? (16.09.03)
