Villains

A quiet round of matches in the cup once again, the clash between Osasuna and Sevilla coming to nothing, and so directly on to this weekend's league games. Only three red cards in all, two of which came in the clash between Albacete and Zaragoza, where Oscar González and then Luis García were both sent off for the visitors in penalty incidents (see our white stick section for more on that one). And the third sending off came in the match between Villarreal and Racing Santander, where the Cantabrians were in the lead before Regragui picked up a second booking late in the first half. Needless to say they lost.

A lot of suspensions this weekend for accumulation of cards though, with three players finally joining Pablo García on the ten card threshold which completes the second cycle (the Uruguayan midfielder made it several weeks ago and is already way past that figure). The "super-villains" surprisingly include two full internationals, Luis Figo of Real Madrid and Orbaiz of Athletic Bilbao, as well as Diego Rivas from Getafe. And eight other players will sit out next weekend after picking up their fifth booking of the season, including Etxeberría (Athletic), Melli and Rivas (Betis), Otxoa (Numancia), Corrales (Osasuna), Navarro (Valencia) and David Villa (Zaragoza).
