Three first division players
were sent off in the fourth round of the cup midweek, including López
Rekarte and Novo of Real Sociedad, who were both given their marching orders
just before half time of the tie at Málaga for second bookable offences.
Real ended up losing 4-1 and a new coach will be in charge of the side for the
second leg as a result. Celta's Angel was the other player to see red, also for
a second bookable offence against Alavés, the second time the full back
has been sent off this season.
On to the weekend, and only
two red cards were shown in the ten league matches. Betis defender Lembo was
one of them, earning himself a red card for pulling back an attacker with ten
minutes of the first half still to go. And Valencia's Regueiro was the second,
picking up two bookings late in the game against his old club Racing Santander.
Racing defender Rubén also picked up his fifth yellow card of the season
in the same match, and he will sit out next weekend's games as well. (31.10.06)
PS The disciplinary
committee also handed out a one match ban to Valencia's Miguel for insulting
the referee as the players left the pitch. |
