Villains

Espanyol's Riera doesn't have a reputation of being a villain, but he tops our chart this week after getting sent off for the third time this season. The ex Mallorca and Manchester City winger got his marching orders for a tackle on Sevilla's Daniel Alves late on, and was given a two match ban for his pains. Elsewhere Racing Santander's little and large strikers Munitis and Zigic both were shown red cards, the former for insulting an official and the latter for a second bookable offence. Deportivo's Cristian Hidalgo was also sent off later in the same match for a hard tackle on an opponent.

Mallorca's Jonás Gutiérrez had an eventful return to the side this week, scoring one of the goals but then getting himself sent off with a straight red. And Athletic Bilbao's Aduriz was also sent for an early bath after catching Real Madrid's Diarra in the face with an elbow, his second red card of the season. Diarra picked up his fifth booking in the same match and will therefore also sit out the next game, as did Athletic's Murillo. And three other players will join them for the same reason, Juan Díaz (Gimnastic), and Josetxo and Raúl García (both Osasuna). (05.12.06)
