Villains

Four red cards this weekend, and all for second bookable offences. Deportivo's Juanma had to leave the field of play late in the first half after being booked for giving away a penalty on Valencia's David Villa, although there was a lot of talk in the press afterwards as the veteran defender accused Villa of diving. Mallorca's Maxi López didn't last long after coming on as substitute before he got his second yellow card, and Getafe's Belenguer and Barcelona's Sylvinho also were sent for early baths for the same reason.

Eight players will also have to sit out next weekend's games after picking up their fifth yellow cards of the season, including Perea (Atlético Madrid), Lopo (Deportivo), Camacho (Levante), Valdo (Osasuna), Beckham (Real Madrid), Javi Navarro (Sevilla), and Marcos Senna and Tacchinardi (Villarreal).
