Villains

Wor David got himself into a bit of bother this week! Beckham's frustrations got the better of him after Real Madrid could only draw against Betis, and his hack on Isidoro in injury time earned him a red card. Becks wasn't the only big name to bow to the pressure this weekend though, Deco (Barcelona) and Albelda (Valencia) getting their marching orders after a couple of dangerous tackles and a bit of handbags at ten paces, and Sevilla's Martí also sent for an early bath for the same reason. Celta's Canobbio completed the "manita" of red cards this weekend after picking up a second booking before half time against Osasuna.

Daniel Alves was let off his tenth yellow card by the appeals committee and was allowed to play against Atlético, but he immediately picked up another booking and this time will have to sit out the next match. He will be joined by nine other players who were given their fifth bookings of the season, including Costinha (Atlético), Zambrotta (Barcelona), Placente (Celta), Manolo (Levante), Juanito (Real Sociedad), Edu Moya and Jesús Vázquez (Recreativo), Raúl Albiol (Valencia) and also Abbondanzieri (Getafe). The league's leading keeper almost got away with it though as the referee incorrectly reported reserve keeper Luis García as the culprit! (20.02.07)
