Villains

Never a dull moment in Spanish football! Extraordinary events this weekend, with referees making a protest about the cancellation of so many cards by changing the wording of their reports (see white stick section for more). As a result, the large majority of the bookings given out last weekend have been cancelled, for now at least. There were actually four red cards, including one for Recre coach Marcelino for insulting an official, and one for Racing's Munitis for an off the ball incident (i.e. punch) on Mallorca's Ballesteros. Both have been given a two match ban. Red cards for Bilbao's Sarriegi and Deportivo's Capdevila, both for second bookable offences, have been ruled out though, as have one match bans for accumulation of yellow cards for Murillo (Athletic), Gustavo López and Baiano (Celta), Moha (Espanyol), Alvaro (Levante), Víctor (Mallorca), Corrales (Osasuna), Vitolo and Zigic (Racing), Garitano (Real Sociedad), and Herrero and Aimar (Zaragoza). Levante's Ettien was the only unlucky one to be suspended, as his fifth booking of the season was for time wasting. (15.05.07)
