Villains

Six red cards this weekend, including one for Athletic Bilbao's troubled defender Del Horno. The ex Chelsea and Valencia man had had run-ins with fans in training after accusations of wild nights out, and his nerves were probably on edge when he felled Almería's Bruno shortly before half time. Even so the red card was probably a bit harsh. Del Horno's physical trainer Reyes was also red-carded for insulting the officials after he was sent off.

Two red cards as well in the match between Osasuna and Villarreal, where Josetxo and Ricardo were both sent off for second bookable offences in the final minutes. Referee Megia Dávila was on his old form, with nine yellows including one for Rossi, his fifth of the season earning the striker a one match ban. Elsewhere a red card for Mallorca's Pereyra didn't stop his side from an epic comeback against Valladolid, who also had Llorente sent for a (slightly) early bath after picking up a second booking near the end.
