Villains

Three red cards in the cup midweek, including one for Valladolid coach Mendilibar for protesting. The other two came in the tie between Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao, with Luis García seeing red early on for a hand-off on Tiko, and Luis Prieto picking up a second booking in extra time. The disciplinary committee didn't agree with referee Rodríguez Santiago though, Luis García's red card being downgraded to a yellow afterwards.

Only one red at the weekend in the league, Athletic Bilbao's Yeste getting his marching orders after a clash with Osasuna's Miguel Flaño on the hour mark in their local derby. It's a wonder that referee Mejuto González saw it though, with the fog closing in at the Reyno de Navarra stadium.

Another ten players will be missing next weekend though after completing the five yellow card cycle, including Zaragoza's Ayala who picked up his tenth booking. The others are Soriano (Almería), Antonio López and Maxi (Atlético), Juande (Betis), Moisés (Espanyol), David Navarro (Mallorca), César Arzo (Murcia) and Caneira (Valencia). (22.01.08)
