Five red cards at the weekend, three of which came in the physical game between Getafe and Osasuna. Contra was shown a red card early on for leading with his elbow in a tackle on Monreal, earning him a two match ban. And Getafe's medical assistant and kit manager were both red carded by an overzealous Pérez Lasa close to half time for insults and protests against the referee's performance.

Elsewhere Zaragoza's famous "hairdresser" Juanfran was sent off in injury time for kicking out in frustration at Valladolid's Capdevila as he wasted time down by the corner flag, and Recreativo defender Iago Bouzón was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence late in the match against Athletic Bilbao.

Six other players picked up a one match ban as well after completing the five yellow card cycle, including Ustaritz (Athletic), Damià (Betis), Lopo (Deportivo), Carlos Vela (Osasuna), Moratón (Racing) and Sinama-Pongolle (Recreativo). (01.04.08)
