Villains

The race for our top villain looks like going to the last day, but right now Daniel Alves tops the chart after he and Arzu were sent off for fighting as Betis and Sevilla players clashed in a heated derby. Alves's reported head-but earned him a two match ban (one next week and one at the start of next season), and Sevilla are unlikely to appeal as he would appear to be already on his way to Barcelona.

Elsewhere there were four more red cards, including one for Athletic's Yeste for insulting the referee at the end of the match against Racing. Edmilson (Barcelona) and Iago Bouzón (Recreativo) were both given their marching orders for second bookable offences, and Almería assistant coach Carcedo was shown red for comments to the referee, picking up a two match ban for his pains.

They will all start their holidays early, as will thirteen other players who completed the five yellow card cycle last weekend. Pulido and Soriano (Almería), Susaeta (Athletic), Pinillos (Racing) and Luis Fabiano (Sevilla) were all shown their tenth yellow cards, and Del Horno (Athletic), Camacho (Atlético), Chica (Espanyol), Borja Valero (Mallorca), Munitis (Racing), Albelda (Valencia) and Paredes (Zaragoza) all picked up their fifth.
