Villains

Five red cards this weekend, starting with Espanyol's Rufete who was shown a rather harsh second yellow card late in the first half against Valencia. New coach Mané was so upset with referee Iturralde González that he too was shown a red card for his continual protests at half time. A red card too for Getafe's assistant coach for the same reason, and Racing's Lacen and Villarreal's Llorente were both given their marching orders for second bookable offences in their respective matches.

Another eleven players will be suspended next weekend as well after reaching the five yellow card threshold, including Crusat (Almería), Emanà and Mehmet Aurelio (Betis), Román (Espanyol), Calleja (Málaga), David Navarro (Mallorca), Cisma (Numancia), Pereira (Racing), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Gerard (Sporting) and Moretti (Valencia).
