Villains

Six red cards this weekend, three coming in the match between Valladolid and Athletic Bilbao. Ustaritz went early on with a straight red, but the numbers swung Athletic's way when Marcos and then Nivaldo were both shown second yellow cards. It was the second time Nivaldo had been sent off this season, and Valladolid are already starting to dominate the "Villains" table.

Elsewhere Espanyol's Forlín was given his marching orders in the first half at Villarreal for bringing down Rossi, and Málaga's Obinna was given two bookings in the last few minutes at Xerez. Mallorca's physical trainer Servera was sent to the stands for protesting, and Tenerife's Román became the first player this season to reach the five yellow card threshold after he was booked against Deportivo. All will be banned for one match. (06.10.09)

PS Nivaldo's second yellow card was overturned on appeal, so he will be able to play the next game.
