Tenerife's Luna was let off
a fifth yellow card last week, but Ayza Gámez got him this weekend for
two bookable offences towards the end of a thrilling 3-3 draw at Valladolid.
The first yellow card was for the serious crime of "covering his head with his
shirt" after scoring a goal (where was the danger, that he could have bumped in
to somebody blindfold and hurt them?), the referee pointing out in his report
as well that this was aggravated by the fact that he had "Yo amo Jesús"
(I love Jesus) on his undershirt (thereby offending all of those at the ground
not of Christian persuasion?). Ridiculous!
Luna tops our chart this
week even ahead of the unfortunate Gonzalo, who was sent off for the third time
in the league this season and fourth including European matches after giving
away a penalty on Sporting's Miguel. Xerez's David Prieto was shown his second
red card of the season, also rather harshly for giving away a penalty at
Getafe, and although he won his appeal for the first to be cancelled a couple
of weeks ago, this time he was not so lucky.
Málaga's Albert Luque
was still sitting on the subs' bench when he was shown a red card for
protesting in the match at Sevilla, and Espanyol's Roncaglia was given his
marching orders at Atlético Madrid for a second yellow card. And there
were two red cards in the big derby game between Barcelona and Real Madrid,
Busquets after he was booked for a second time for handling the ball, and Lass
for a second caution near the end of the game. All will miss the next round of
games together with Zokora (Sevilla), Bellvis (Teneife), Banega (Valencia) and
Ponzio (Zaragoza), who all picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season .
