Villains

Christmas is upon us, and there is peace and goodwill to all men, even from Spanish referees! Only one red card this weekend, and even that was a) due to a second booking for Espanyol's Raúl Baena after the match finished and b) was in any case overturned by the disciplinary committee (see white stick section for more). Six players will however be able to start their winter break early after they were shown their fifth yellow cards of the season, including Amorebieta and Susaeta (Athletic), Forlín (Espanyol), Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid), Luna (Tenerife) and David Navarro (Valencia). Elsewhere the appeals committee overturned Cani's red card from last weekend, allowing him to play last Sunday. Keita (the one from Xerez) was given a two match ban though for his insults to the referee after being sent off last week. (15.12.09)
