It just wasn't the best of
weekends for José Luis Mendilibar. The Valladolid coach was shown a red
card by the referee for protesting in the match against Almería, and not
long after the game ended he received another "red card" from the club
president. The second one though was more serious, and his replacement at the
club will be Onésimo Sánchez. Mendilibar's centre forward Manucho
had been sent off as well late in the first half for catching an opponent with
a flying elbow.
Racing Santander coach
Miguel Angel Portugal was also red carded after two bookings for protesting,
the first even before kick-off after barging in to Clos Gómez's dressing
room to tell him what he thought of his decision not to allow his side to play
in black shorts. Having no alternative, Racing were forced to put on white
shorts from host Getafe's change strip. That could be why Moratón got
his knickers in a twist, getting himself sent off for two bookings either side
of half time.
A further seven players will
also miss next weekend's round of matches after picking up their fifth
bookings, including Puyol (Barcelona), Chica (Espanyol), Pedro León
(Getafe), Weligton (Málaga), Botía and Lora (Sporting) and Lafita
(Zaragoza). (02.02.10) |
