Ouch! Orbaiz's retaliatory
kick in the gin-gan-goolies of Getafe's David Cortés made everybody's
eyes water this weekend. It was a case of "don't rub 'em, count 'em" as
Cortés crumpled up on the ground in agony. Athletic appealed saying he
was provoked, but the disciplinary committee (all good family men) decided to
impose a two match ban. There was a second red card for Getafe's Miguel Torres
in the second half of the same match for a foul on Susaeta, and Getafe
assistant coach Esnaider was also sent to the stands for protesting. Elsewhere
Xerez's Redondo and Atlético's Raúl García were both sent
off for second bookable offences in their respective matches, and the Zaragoza
physical trainer was also told to take a walk on the wild side for his
protests. All will be joined in the stands for the midweek round of matches by
Athletic's Amorebieta, who picked up his tenth booking of the season, and by
Toribio (Málaga) and Contini (Zaragoza), who picked up their fifth.
