Three red cards for outfield
players this weekend, one for Levante's Xisco Nadal for a tackle from behind on
Espanyol's Dátolo, one for Zaragoza's Ponzio for an off-the-ball slap
from behind on Barcelona's Dani Alves (lot of controversy about Alves's Oscar
performance there), and one for Sevilla's Fernando Navarro for a second
bookable offence against Athletic Bilbao (all three early in the second halves
of their respective games). And two more red cards for managers, one for
Atlético's Quique Sánchez Flores for arguing a bit too vehemently
about disallowed penalties at half time, and one for a similar reason for
Zaragoza's assistant coach Nayim (remember him - Ex Barça and Tottenham,
scored for Zaragoza in the Cup Winners Cup final against Arsenal - Nayim from
the half-way line, etc...). There were lots of yellow cards this weekend, but
they were well spaced out (e.g. Velasco Carballo showed 12 to different players
in the Espanyol Levante game), and nobody reached the five card limit.
