Four red cards this weekend,
with Atlético's Godín getting his marching orders late on after
catching Valencia's Joaquín with an elbow late in their game on Saturday
evening, and Racing's Christian scoring early on against Sevilla but then
getting himself sent off for a second bookable offence a few minutes before the
break. And the following day it was the turn of Osasuna's Damià to see
red, again after picking up a second yellow card near the end of the derby game
at Real Sociedad. The red card which hit the headlines though was the one for
Real Madrid's Iker Casillas just 90 seconds in to the match at Espanyol, the
Spanish international keeper hardly working up a sweat before bringing down
Callejón outside of the area. Elsewhere nine players completed the five
yellow card cycle, including Barral (Sporting) and Ander (Zaragoza), who picked
up their tenth bookings, and Michel Macedo (Almería), Mario
Suárez (Atlético), Miguel Torres (Getafe), Javi Venta (Levante),
and Maduro and Jordi Alba (both Valencia), who were shown their fifth.
