Villains

Three red cards in the midweek round of games, with Sporting's Eguren the first to go after giving away a penalty on Sevilla's Luis Fabiano half an hour in to their Tuesday night match. Two days later Racing's Henrique got himself sent off with only a quarter of an hour on the clock for a foul on Almería's Piatti, and later the same day Málaga's Manolo Gaspar rounded off a miserable night for the Andalusians when he was sent for an early bath after picking up a second booking for giving away a penalty for hands against Real Madrid. That led to Madrid's sixth, and they got one more before the end.

All will miss the weekend games, as will twelve other players who completed the five yellow card cycle. No less than seven of those were shown their tenth of the season, including three from Zaragoza, Contini, Gabi and Ponzio, who will not be available for the match against Barcelona in the Nou Camp. The others with ten cautions were Perea (Atlético), Lopo (Deportivo), Cata Díaz (Getafe) and Tino Costa (Valencia), and with five bookings were Mané (Getafe), Ayoze (Mallorca), Monreal (Osasuna), Cisma (Racing) and Lass (Real Madrid).
