Villains

A quiet day from the disciplinary point of view on the last Saturday of the season, a bit of a surprise given that there was a lot at stake in seven of the ten matches. There were though only two red cards, one for Racing's Francis later on in the game against Athletic Bilbao for a second bookable offence, and one for his assistant manager Uria (later downgraded to a yellow) for protesting. Another six players will miss the first match of next season after completing the five yellow card cycle, including Dani Alves (Barcelona), who picked up his tenth caution, and Valera (Atlético), Stuani (Levante), César (Valencia), Mario (Villarreal) and Braulio (Zaragoza), all of whom were given their fifth. All of that meant that our "Villains" award this year goes to Getafe's Boateng, who ended the campaign with sixteen yellow cards and two reds. (24.05.11)
