Only two red cards in the second leg of the fifth round of the cup, with Bernardo getting himself sent off for a second bookable offence in Racing's surprise defeat against Mirandés, and Arbeloa also getting his marching orders for the same reason near the end of Real Madrid's win at Málaga. Arbeloa will now miss the first leg of the quarter final clash with Barcelona.

Another four reds at the weekend, including Mallorca coach Joaquín Caparrós, who protested a little too loudly in the match against Real Madrid. Granada's Iñigo López, without even a yellow card all season, lost his cool and caught Rayo's Javi Fuego with a vicious elbow, and Betis's Mario and Levante's Juanfran (yes, the famous hairdresser!) were sent for early baths for second yellow cards at Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao respectively. They will be joined on the sidelines next weekend by Aurtenetxe (Athletic), Tiago (Atlético), Ballesteros (Levante), Toulalan (Málaga), Cendrós (Mallorca), Munitis (Racing) and Kanouté (Sevilla), all of whom were given their fifth bookings of the season.
