Five red cards at the weekend, the first on Saturday for Granada's Carlos Martins for insulting the officials from the bench after he had been substituted. On Sunday Mallorca's Ramis got his marching orders for emulating his goalkeeper and saving a shot from Atlético's Falcao on the line with his hands. He got away with it in part though, Aouate keeping out the penalty and Mallorca holding on to win 2-1. Elsewhere Villarreal's Marchena, Athletic's Iraola and Racing Santander's Marcos Gullón were all sent off for second bookable offences in their respective matches, and Valencia's assistant coach Carcedo was red-carded for protesting in the game at the San Mamés stadium. Another eight players will have to serve out a one match ban as well after picking up their fifth bookings, including Verdú (Espanyol), Valdo (Levante), Chory Castro and Pereira (Mallorca), Francis (Racing), Griezmann (Real Sociedad) and Rubén Micael and Postiga (Zaragoza). (20.03.12)

PS Martins and Carcedo were both given two match bans, although Martins in particular was allowed to play in last night's game at Barcelona as the disciplinary committee were on holiday and didn't meet until today! (21.03.12)

(* suspension pending disciplinary meeting decision)
