Five red cards at the weekend, with Sporting's Canella the first to go after picking up two bookings in the match against Real Madrid on Saturday evening. Osasuna's Raúl García went from midweek hero to weekend villain after getting himself sent off on Sunday for treading on Betis midfielder Jefferson Montero, and the club's goalkeeping coach Vicuña was also red-carded for calling a linesman a "cagón" (Google politely translates this as a wimp!). Zaragoza's Rubén Micael got his marching orders near the end of the match against Granada for a two footed tackle on Ighalo, and Real Sociedad's Mikel González was sent down the tunnel a minute or two before half time to help the Málaga tea ladies prepare the half time refreshments after picking up a second yellow card.

Another twelve players will also miss next weekend's games after completing the five yellow card cycle, including Rayo's Arribas, the first to receive a fifteenth booking this season. His team-mate Tito, plus Levante's Juanfran and Valencia's Tino Costa, were all shown their tenth, and Valencia in particular will be short-staffed next weekend after Mathieu, Pablo Hernández and Aduríz all got their fifth cautions as well. The other five players to pick up their fifth bookings were Mathijsen (Málaga), Tamudo (Rayo), Gálvez and Trejo (Sporting) and Pablo Alvarez (Zaragoza). (17.04.12)
