Five red cards on the last day of the season, four of which came in the same match between Getafe and Zaragoza! The Blues had Sarabia sent off before the break, the youngster not very intelligently applauding the referee after he was given a first booking, thereby automatically earning himself a second. And Luis García's team were down to nine when Miguel Torres was also sent off for a second bookable offence after giving away a penalty which Apoño converted. In the last ten minutes of the match Dujmovic and Miku were both shown red cards, and Zaragoza went on to win the game which kept them in the first division for another season. Two games with nothing at stake were brought forward to Saturday, and Barcelona's Dani Alves was given his marching orders after picking up two bookings at Betis. He and the others will miss the opening day of next season, together with Paredes (Zaragoza) and Javi López (Espanyol), who were given their fifteenth and tenth yellow cards respectively, and Lacen (Getafe), Cortés (Granada), and Damián and Lora (Sporting), who were all shown their fifth. With an incident free cup final not changing anything, all of that means that Sevilla's Medel wins our "Villains" award this year, the Chilean midfielder staying one ahead of Rayo's Casado despite being banned for the last round of games. PS. As expected, the disciplinary committee threw the book at the Granada players after the disgraceful spectacle last week (see week 37 report), with Moisés Hurtado, Siqueira and goalkeeping coach García Sendín banned for four matches, Geijo (who also insulted the officials after the game ended) banned for one, and Dani Benítez (who threw a bottle at the referee) suspended for three months.

(* suspension pending disciplinary meeting decision)
