Three of this weekend's seven red cards came in the match between Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao, one each for local coach Pochettino and his assistant for protesting, and one for young Italian striker Longo, who was given a second booking for celebrating his goal with the fans. The young Italian forward is new to Spain, and said he was not aware of the rule, as this does not apply in his home country. Welcome to La Liga! There were two red cards as well for Mallorca's Nunes and Osasuna's Llorente after elbows flashed in both directions early on in their match. And elsewhere Málaga's Sergio Sánchez was sent off for a second bookable offence late in the game against Levante, and the Deportivo physiotherapist was sent to the stands for throwing water bottles on to the pitch whenever play at Granada was stopped! Given that it was over 30ºC at the time, that doesn't seem such a bad idea to us! (20.09.12)
