A quieter week on the red card front at last, with only two over the weekend. Celta's Cabral was in fact the only player to be sent off, the Argentinian defender getting his marching orders after picking up two bookings early on in the second half of the derby game against Deportivo. The other red card was for Rayo coach Paco Jémez, who was sent out of the dug-out after picking up two bookings for protesting the referee's decisions, and then aggravated his "crime" for refusing to leave the entrance of the tunnel until the end of the game. Jémez complained afterwards that the competition was turning in to a dictatorship, and that managers were not even allowed a minimum protest any more. He is in fact the eleventh non-playing official to be sent off this season, most of whom received suspensions of up to four matches, and although the appeals committee agreed to consult the fourth referee before deciding on his fate, he was still given a provisional one match ban. Elsewhere a further five players will also have to sit out next weekend's fixtures after picking up their fifth cautions of the season, including Forlín and Víctor Sánchez (both Espanyol), Jordi Amat (Rayo), Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid) and Alvaro Rubio (Valladolid).
