Losing one goalkeeper to a red card in a cup tie may be bad luck, but losing two seems downright careless! That's what happened though to Rayo, Dani Giménez getting himself sent off in the first leg at Las Palmas, and Rubén also red-carded for handling outside of the area in the return match. Rayo still only let in one goal in the 180 minutes, but as they couldn't score themselves they were eliminated. All in all there were seven red cards in the fourth round, second leg games, three of which for players from lower ranked teams. Espanyol's Javi López got his marching orders before half time for giving away a penalty on Sevilla's Babá, and Michel (Levante) and Postiga (Zaragoza) were both sent off for second bookable offences in their respective ties against Melilla and Granada. The latter two will serve out a one match suspension when Levante and Zaragoza meet in the fifth round, but Rubén and López will have to wait until the first cup match next season for their bans to be applied.

Last year's top villain, Sevilla's Gary Medel, is at it again, and once more he leads our charts after getting himself sent off for the second time this season in the Monday night game against Valladolid. Medel was one of three players who picked up two bookings this weekend, the others being Getafe's Diego Castro (in the last minute of the match against Málaga), and Zaragoza's Loovens (in the twelfth minute at Mallorca). One straight red as well, Valencia's Jonas sent to prepare the half-time orange slices (do they still do that?) after flattening Zurutuza with an elbow in the disastrous game against Real Sociedad. The Ches were winning at the time, but they went on to lose 2-5, a result which cost coach Pellegrino his job. Another seven players will join the above four on the sidelines next weekend after picking up their fifth bookings of the current campaign, including Iturraspe (Athletic), Miranda (Atlético), Cabral (Celta), Aythami (Deportivo), Diop and Juanlu (both Levante) and Carlos Vela (Real Sociedad).
