Only three red cards this weekend, including one for the Levante medical assistant Baixauli for "waving his arms about and shouting" in protest about a late decision by referee Undiano Mallenco to disallow a goal. Given that the chap was right (see "Villains" section for details), the one month ban dished out by the disciplinary committee seems a little harsh! Osasuna's Gato Silva may feel a little upset about the red card he got for an injury time foul on Betis striker Jorge Molina, especially as his team mate Arribas had got off with a yellow card for a worse tackle a few minutes earlier, and Mallorca midfielder Javi Márquez actually appealed his sending off (so far to no avail) for a second bookable offence for time-wasting not long after coming on as substitute against Sevilla.

Subject to a final appeal, Silva and Márquez will be joined on the sidelines next weekend by another ten players who completed the five yellow card cycle, including Casado and Javi Fuego (Rayo) and Alexis (Getafe), who all picked up their tenth bookings, and Godín (Atlético), Javi López and Simao (Espanyol), Iturra (Málaga), Martí (Mallorca), Leo Baptistao (Rayo) and Cicinho (Sevilla), all of whom were given their fifth.
