Six red cards this weekend, although three of them came off the field of play in the controversial game between Elche and Real Madrid (see White Stick section for more). Carlos Sánchez was given a second yellow card for protesting to referee Muñiz Fernández about his penalty decision after the final whistle, and Fran Escribá and his physical trainer Mascarós were also red carded for their complaints. The club decided to appeal, but unfortunately they missed the next day 14:00 deadline (a little known rule?), so the red cards were upheld, with Sánchez and Escribá getting one match bans and Mascarós two.

Two red cards for Rayo Vallecano players as well at Sevilla, Gálvez getting sent for an early bath for a second bookable offence midway through the second half, and Jonathan Viera being shown a straight red for a trip on M'Bia near the end. Valladolid's Bergdich also had to take the long walk after he was sent off for giving away a penalty on Levante's Xumetra shortly before half time, and although their appeal to the disciplinary committee did arrive on time and was accepted, nothing could change the result of the match (although the penalty was actually saved by keeper Diego Mariño).
