Seven red cards this weekend, equalling the season high. Four of those though came in the Monday night game between Levante and Granada, with Colunga sent off for a tackle from behind on Barral, El-Arabi and Iván Ramís sent to the changing rooms after pushing each other during a fracas involving several players, and Granada’s utility man also red-carded for protesting. El-Arabi and Ramís were both given four match bans, and Colunga two. On Saturday evening Atlético’s Siqueira and Deportivo’s Lopo were both given their marching orders for second bookable offences late on in their respective games, and on Sunday Sevilla’s assistant coach Carcedo was also sent to the stands for arguing with the officials (he also gets a two match ban). Another six players will miss next weekend’s games after picking up their fifth yellow cards of the season, including Piqué (Barcelona), Sergi Gómez (Celta), Enzo Roco (Elche), Javi López (Espanyol), Lacen (Getafe) and Juan Carlos (Granada), and Levante coach Lucas Alcaraz will also be suspended for a week after he too was given his fifth caution. (25.02.15)

PS. The appeals committee overturned quite a few decisions this week, reducing the bans for El-Arabi and Ramis to one match, cancelling one of Siqueira’s yellow cards and consequently the red, and also letting Lass (Granada) and De la Bella (Real Sociedad) off their bookings.

(* suspension pending disciplinary meeting decision)
