Four red cards at the weekend, Atlético’s Miranda the first to go for a leading elbow on Saturday which left Espanyol’s Abraham in hospital with concussion. Later in the evening Athletic’s San José got his marching orders for a second bookable offence late on in the game at Celta, and on Sunday Almería’s Mauro Dos Santos and Villarreal’s Jaume Costa were both sent off either side of half time in their match, the former with a straight red card for bringing down Giovani as he advanced on goal, and the latter for a second booking. Miranda has been given a two game ban, and the others one. Elsewhere five more players will be suspended after they reached the five yellow card threshold, Krychowiak (Sevilla) who was given his tenth caution, and Ekiza (Eibar), José Angel (Elche), Juan Rodríguez (Getafe) and Rodrigo (Valencia), who all picked up their fifth.
