Real Sociedad’s Rulli became the third goalkeeper to be sent off this season after he gave away a penalty on Espanyol’s Marco Asensio just before the break in their Saturday evening match. Elsewhere there were two red cards for Dani Ceballos (Betis) and Jonny (Celta), both for second bookable offences in their respective games, and there was a straight red for Sevilla’s assistant coach Villanueva for protesting. (21.09.15)

PS Both Dani Ceballos and Jonny Castro were let off one of their yellow cards on appeal, and both will be able to play in the mid-week fixtures. Sevilla's Villanueva was given a two match ban, and Villarreal assistant Fernández Rodríguez will also have a one match suspension after he was sent off by the referee for protesting.
