Six red cards for outfield players this weekend, and two more for officials from Sevilla and Granada, who were both reported by referees for insulting behaviour after their respective matches ended. Real Sociedad finished their Sunday match against Atlético with nine men after Diego Reyes and Jonathas were both sent off after picking up second bookings for protesting in a heated final few minutes, and on Monday the same thing happened to Granada, who lost Miguel Lopes and Doria for second bookable offences in the dying minutes, Doria’s second yellow card for blatant time wasting in particular stupid after he had already received a caution a few minutes earlier. Elsewhere Villarreal’s Eric Bailly was also sent off after picking up a second yellow card at the start of the second half in the table-topping game against Celta on Sunday lunchtime, and later in the day Las Palmas midfielder Culio got his marching orders for a crunching tackle on Getafe’s Sarabia with a quarter of an hour to go in that match. The Canary Islanders will be missing two players for their next fixture though after Wakaso picked up his fifth booking in as many games. (21.10.15)
