A moment of madness has probably cost N’Zonzi a place in the Copa del Rey final this year. Already on one booking, the Sevilla midfielder was shown a second yellow card for protesting to the referee after the final whistle had already gone. Better to keep your mouth shut in those circumstances? Assistant coach Rafa Becerra will also be banned for that match as he was also shown a red card for his complaints. Difficult to understand as their side won!

Only one red card at the weekend as well, Real Madrid’s Varane getting sent off for two bookings, both for fouls on Athletic striker Aduríz. Madrid will probably appeal though as both were questionable. Another six players stand to miss next weekend’s games as well for accumulation of yellow cards, Dani García (Eibar) and Wakaso (Las Palmas), who both picked up their tenth, and Etxeita (Athletic), Giménez (Atlético) and Orbán (Levante), who were all shown their fifth. Orbán of course picked up four of those bookings at Valencia, prior to his move across town in January. (15.02.16)
