Three red cards this weekend, the first for Sporting Gijón’s Nacho Cases, who was sent off for a late tackle on Espanyol’s Marco Asensio on Saturday night. Levante’s David Navarro (an old favourite of ours) got his marching orders for a second bookable offence at Villarreal on Sunday lunchtime, and Deportivo keeper Lux had to take the long walk for a tackle outside of the area on Granada’s Edgar with the game already in ij¡njury time. All will miss the midweek round of matches together with another eleven players who reached the five yellow card threshold, Pablo Hernández (Celta) and Capa (Eibar), who both picked up their tenth bookings of the season, and Dani Alves (Barcelona), Petros (Betis), Velázquez (Getafe), Dani Carvajal and Sergio Ramos (both Real Madrid), Iñigo Martínez (Real Sociedad), Kolodziejczak (Sevilla), Isma López (Sporting) and Cancelo (Valencia), who were all given their fifth. Incidentally, we did make a mistake last week including Cancelo in the list of suspended players as we erroneously attributed a yellow card he had picked up in the cup to his league tally. The refs got him this week though! (01.03.16)
