The first red card of the week 13 round of games came within seventeen minutes of kick-off in the opening match, Betis defender Piccini getting his marching orders for a foul on Eibar’s Inui as he advanced on goal. We had to wait until the Monday night game between Las Palmas and Athletic Bilbao for any further additions to the suspension lists though, Athletic’s Aduríz picking up two bookings in a minute with a quarter of an hour to go, and Roque (Las Palmas) and Raúl García (Athletic) both collecting their fifth yellow cards of the season. As normal bans take place in the same competition in which they were incurred, all four will be available for the midweek domestic cup games, but they will have to sit out next weekend’s league fixtures.
