Leganés are not having much luck with their keepers this season, and this week their new signing Herrerín only lasted about half an hour before he got his marching orders for a reckless tackle on Eibar’s Inui. The foul took place outside of the area, and curiously under the new ruling he may have only been shown a yellow had it been inside the penalty box? Elsewhere Sevilla’s Rami was red-carded after picking up two cautions in the same action, the first for a foul on Málaga’s Juan Carlos with an hour on the clock, and the second for a vociferous protest to the referee after he was booked. And Celta’s Roncaglia was also sent off for a second bookable offence after he was shown a second yellow for giving away a penalty on Athletic Bilbao’s Williams with ten minutes to go in the Monday night game. All will miss the first league match of the New Year together with two players who completed the five yellow card cycle, Sporting’s Amorebieta actually picking up his tenth booking of the season (the first this year to reach that threshold), and Alavés defender Theo Hernández being given his fifth. PS Rami's ban has been put on hold by the sporting tribunal (TAD), and a decision will be made at a later date as to whether the ban stands or not.
