What a change this weekend! Only four red cards all season up to now, but there were no less than eight in week five! Real Sociedad’s Juanmi and Theo were both sent off on Friday, the latter with a straight red (although Musto did milk it a bit), and the former after picking up two bookings in the same incident, making matters worse for himself by insulting the officials as he left the field. Straight reds as well for Abdoulaye Ba (Rayo), Alejo (Getafe – just 4 minutes after coming on as substitute!), Dani Parejo (Valencia), and his coach Marcelino!, and Lenglet (Barcelona), and Athletic’s Susaeta got his marching orders for a second bookable offence. All will miss the midweek round of games. (24.09.18)

PS Theo was given a four match ban and Juanmi three, so Real Sociedad will be missing two key figures for some time! Marcelino meanwhile was suspended for two weeks, which is the usual penalty in La Liga for coaches who abuse the officials.

(* suspension pending disciplinary meeting decision)
