A couple of performances
worthy of note on the second weekend of league football. Pérez Lasa
stepped in for Esquinas Torres, and probably stepped in something else rather
less pleasant at the same time. Maybe he wasn't happy about returning a week
early from his holidays, but this wasn't his best day. First of all he failed
to spot that Caminero scored the first goal with his arm, even though it was
clear to everyone else in the ground. And then he sent off Valladolid's
Peña, giving him a second yellow card when the ball hit him on the arm
with his back turned. The best that one can say is that one thing balanced the
other, and the game ended 1-1. Pino Zamorano made his debut in the first
division, and pulled out the second highest number of cards of the day in the
match between Villarreal and Osasuna. He also got himself into a bit of an
argument with Osasuna's Sabino, and got himself a mouthful of insults for his
pains. Turienzo Alvarez upset Barcelona manager Charly Rexach, awarding a
penalty against his side even though Rayo's Roy appeared to handle the ball
first, and not giving a couple the other way. (10.09.01) |
