Another quiet week on the
refereeing front, with the usual number of yellow (53) and red (4) cards and no
scandalous decisions of note. Betis came away unscathed from Turienzo Alvarez,
who had sent off at least one of their players in the previous three games he
had officiated this season, and all the red cards this time were fairly clear.
Well, Puentes Leira was probably a bit pedantic in showing one to Sevilla
manager Joaquín Caparrós, but he didn't report the manager's
reaction after seeing the card, which any Spanish lip-reader could have told
you was a lot stronger than what he was sent off for in the first place.
Rodríguez Santiago upset Rayo's new boss Antonio Iriondo when he failed
to award a penalty to his side after Barcelona's Gabri tripped Peragón
in the area, but the forward did exaggerate his fall and, let's face it, has a
diving record longer than that of whatever that famous Olympic gold medalist
was called. (06.05.03) |
