Two of our men in black were
in the news this weekend after being accosted in the tunnel at the end of the
match. Ramírez Domínguez had just added a record nine minutes of
injury time in the game between Celta and Racing (one more than signalled by
the fourth referee), and Diego Alonso had equalised for the visitors with
virtually the last kick. That didn't go down with the local nutcase Juanfran,
and after haranguing him on the way off the pitch, he finished off with "que te
mueras", roughly translated as "I hope you die". Naturally that went in the
referee's report and earned "the hairdresser" a yellow card. Ramírez had
been active throughout the game as well, sending off two players, awarding two
penalties and turning down appeals for three more.
Pérez Lasa was also
under fire from Málaga managers and players after their home defeat by
Deportivo, and Darío Silva couldn't resist telling him at the end of the
game "tienes mucha cara" (liberally translated as "you have a nerve"), even
though the player was not taking part in the game as he was sitting out the
first of a two match suspension. Fernando Sanz and manager Joaquín
Peiró also criticised him after the match for being biased towards the
bigger teams, and maybe they had a point. For example Pérez refused to
even give a yellow card to Naybet after a bone-crunching tackle on an attacker
just before half time (which would have been the second for the Moroccan
defender), but then booked Romero for suggesting he should have cautioned the
player. (13.05.03) |
